About Our SIYS
Surat Islam Yatimkhana Society “SIYS” trust was established pre independence in the year 1918 by the Nawab of Surat
SIYS society was established in 1918 then Nawab of Surat H.H. JANAB MIR MUZAFFAR HUSSAIN KHAN and JANAB MIR MASOOD ALAMKHAN at their palace, later they shifted the society to present premises in 1928. The aims and objectives of the society establishment were to educate orphans and underprivileged students of the community. Founder trustee’s foresight was to build schools/colleges/technical colleges/and do other welfare activities to uplift the community.
The society’s source of income depends mainly on donations, a part of it comes from hoardings rent and ground rent to support the expenses of educational and social activities of the society.
The society is governed by an elected body of 18 membsers and structure of office bearers are President-1, Vice President-1, General Secretary-1, Joint Secretaries-2, Treasurer-1.
The society presently manages Hostel/ Schools (Gujarati Medium and English Medium), Madresa for basic Islamic education, 11th and 12th Science stream with coaching for NEET/ JEE under the ILM Academy program, UPSC and GPSC coaching under Knowledge Academy program. The society also provides Scholarships to Yatim Girls and to deserving students for higher Education under the Z.A. Saiyed Scholarship program. Society also organizes Mass Wedding for Yatim and underprivileged girls.
